Richard Frechette, mining industry veteran, joins Haley & Aldrich’s Denver office

Burlington, Mass., April 17, 2018 – Haley & Aldrich, an engineering and environmental consulting firm, today announced that Richard “Rick” Frechette, P.E., is joining the firm’s mining practice as a Senior Geotechnical Engineer in its Denver office. Frechette brings over 35 years of specialized expertise in mine planning and design, in particular heap leach, tailings and waste rock, and innovative mine closure strategies. He has worked at numerous precious and base metal mining operations in North America and throughout the world.

Frechette’s experience includes heap leach and tailings design; water management and water balance; mining life cycle permitting support; closure planning; environmental assessment for new projects; due diligence for acquisitions; site selection, analysis, and design; operational support; and planning and implementation of closure.

Frechette is an active member of the Nevada Mining Association and the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration. He has presented at key conferences throughout the world on topics including planning for closure of mining operations, trends in heap leach facility closure, tailings and mine waste, and design strategies for heap leach in extreme environments.

Frechette has a Bachelor of Science in Geological Engineering (geotechnics option) from the University of Arizona, Tucson, and holds Professional Engineer licenses in numerous states and international jurisdictions.
