The American Foundry Society (AFS) is hosting its 29th Annual Environmental Health and Safety Conference in Birmingham, AL from Oct. 31 to Nov. 2. The conference will cover environmental, occupational health and safety issues that will affect the metalcasting industry in the coming year.
Topics to be covered include:
- Pressing Issues for metalcasting: What could impact your facility in 2017?
- Washington legislative and regulatory update: The latest EPA and OSHA issues
- Controlling air contaminant exposures
- Water and solid waste
- EHS for the small and medium foundry
Dan Oman, Heavy Industry Market Segment Leader for Haley & Aldrich and EHS Division (10) Chair for AFS, will present the Welcome Address and Announcements. Dan will also present at the Foundry Environmental 101 Seminar being held prior to the conference from Oct. 29 to 30. This seminar will provide a basic understanding of environmental issues and concerns encountered by individuals with environmental responsibilities in a metalcasting facility on a day-to-day basis.
