Tucson Green Office Redevelopment
Haley & Aldrich moved its Tucson office to a “green” building redeveloped by the firm in the historic Barrio Viejo community. Our intent as a firm is to integrate sustainable principles into all that we do, including the ways in which we operate. As reported in our People, Planet and Profit Report, sustainability is the tough issue that we have chosen to tackle under our strategic action plan. This renovation and historic preservation project is visible evidence of our commitment. Some of the sustainable principles incorporated into the Tucson office redevelopment include:
- Onsite reuse or recycling of construction debris
- Roof-top solar daylighting systems
- Roof-top and parking lot canopy photovoltaic panels that produce 51.6KW of renewable power
- Rainwater harvesting and storage system
- Use of low-VOC (volatile organic compound) construction materials and renewable or certified building materials
- Office furniture is composed of a minimum 50% recycled content; furniture will be returned to the manufacturer at the end of its useful life for 100% material recycling

The building façade was restored to reflect the original character of the 1880s structure.
The rooftop photovolatic panels produce 51.61KW of renewable power. Click here to see our real-time energy statistics.
Located on the parking lot side of the building, local artists Johanna Martinez and Joseph Graves painted an 8' x 18' mural celebrating the history of the Barrio Viejo neighborhood.
Wooden beams from the basement (constructed in 1912) were used by a local artesian to make architecturally appropriate conference room furniture.
Low-VOC construction materials and renewable or certified building materials were utilized throughout, and the adobe walls were finished with color-tinted plaster instead of paint. |
