Kate is senior engineer and project manager for a new residence hall and student center for a college in downtown Boston, MA. The project includes a NCAA basketball court and athletic facilities located three levels below grade and constructed immediately adjacent to existing buildings requiring underpinning and within feet of an MBTA subway tunnel. Haley & Aldrich's role involves documenting the construction of the foundation and below-grade space, and monitoring the performance of the excavation support during construction using inclinometers and survey reference points to evaluate the impact on the adjacent streets, buildings and subway tunnel.
Kate is assisting a university in Cambridge, MA to redevelop a property with some challenging environmental/regulatory compliance decisions. The site redevelopment strategy addresses the clients' site development goals as well as community concerns and regulatory compliance requirements. The project includes construction of a 2-3 level below-grade garage, graduate student housing and public park. Haley & Aldrich's role has included assisting the client during contractor bidding and contract negotiation.
Kate received a B.S. in Civil/Environmental Engineering and a M.S. in Geotechnical and GeoEnvironmental Engineering from Tufts University. Kate is LEED certified.
