Haley & Aldrich opens Denver office to service growing roster of mining, water resource, industrial and energy clients

Denver, CO (November 16, 2015) -- Haley & Aldrich, an engineering and environmental consulting firm, today announced the opening of its Denver office, led by mining industry veteran, Chris N. Hatton P.E., and bolstered by the addition of five senior engineers. The new office staff will address the company’s growing client roster in the region and provide expanded engineering and environmental services for mining, water resource, industrial and energy clients across the United States.

“Our growing presence in the Denver and Rocky Mountain area, led by the expertise of Chris Hatton, reinforces the need for an engineering and environmental services firm that truly partners with companies from beginning to end,” said Eric Mears, Vice President and Market Segment Leader for the company's mining practice. “Our clients are faced with many challenges caused by a global economic stagnation, an oversupply of raw materials, and complex regulations. We partner with our clients to address these challenges by helping them see through ambiguity and work more efficiently by doing more with less.”

With the inclusion of its Denver office, Haley & Aldrich remains committed to partnering with its clients to manage risk, minimize environmental liabilities, and successfully navigate the complex technical, social, and regulatory landscape.

Chris Hatton, P.E., leads the Denver-based Haley & Aldrich team in supporting local and regional clients with their engineering and environmental challenges. As a registered professional engineer with nearly 30 years of diversified heavy civil engineering and environmental engineering experience, Hatton’s projects have included the investigation, evaluation, design, construction, operation, inspection and reclamation of tailings dams, water dams, heap leach facilities, and surface water conveyances. He has trained mine operations staff to safely operate tailings and water retention facilities. Chris also developed and implemented a stewardship strategy using a ground-up approach in the operation and management of tailings storage facilities and water dams. The program was designed to minimize risk and lower operational costs.

Other key members of the Denver-based engineering team include the following professionals:

Peter Duvigneaud, P.E., is a geotechnical engineer with more than seven years of experience investigating geotechnical conditions and applying geotechnical engineering principles. He has experience analyzing geotechnical and subsurface investigation data, designing tailings impoundment structures and earthen embankments, and preparing geotechnical reports.

Paul Kowalke is a lead civil designer with ten years of experience in computer-aided design (CAD). He has extensive experience in civil design, dam layout, centerline, upstream and downstream structure design, deposition modeling for tailings dams, access roads, underdrains, and other related design elements for tailings facilities. He also has expertise in all areas of land surveying, from design surveys to construction staking and as-builts.

Mike Visocky, EIT, is a construction manager with 25 years of experience managing, estimating, scheduling and implementing construction, remediation, and reclamation/closure projects throughout North and South America. He specializes in program management, engineering, planning, strategy development and financial analysis.

Jonathan Thibault, EIT, is a senior engineer with more than five years of experience providing integrated geotechnical and environmental engineering services for real estate development projects from design through construction. He has experience implementing subsurface exploration programs, designing foundations and excavation support systems, and preparing technical project deliverables and reports.
