Burlington, Mass., January 31, 2019 – Haley & Aldrich, an engineering and environmental consulting company, today announced that Rory Bakke has joined the firm in their Walnut Creek, California office as a Senior Sustainability Associate. She has worked with public agencies, manufacturers, airports, stadiums, communications companies, and institutions to develop programs that empower leaders to assess environmental and social value opportunities, and to improve their company’s performance and its impact on the world.
“Rory’s decades of sustainability and waste prevention expertise combined with her ability to bring many stakeholders together to a find a common purpose is rare and incredibly valuable for Haley & Aldrich’s clients,” said Melissa McEwen, Management Consulting Service Lead at Haley & Aldrich. “Transformative change comes at the intersection of those two qualities and we’re really looking forward to our clients benefiting from Rory’s unique knowledge and approach.”
Prior to Haley & Aldrich, Bakke held various senior sustainability, training, and change management roles. Most recently she was the VP of Product Development and Chief Sustainability Officer at REV Sustainability (REV), a consulting company that provides education and tools to integrate sustainability with behavior change. Under her leadership, the “Stop Waste” program diverted one million tons of solid waste from landfill disposal by working with companies to reduce waste at the source and reuse materials using new best practices.
Bakke has received a variety of awards and recognition for her leading-edge work, including a commendation from the California State Legislature for co-founding the San Francisco Bay Area Green Business Program. The program recognizes businesses, non-profit organizations, and municipal offices in the San Francisco Bay Area that meet high environmental standards and has been replicated in many regions throughout the U.S.
Since 2014, Bakke has lectured at the prestigious Presidio Graduate School, a pioneering school in the field of sustainability education.
