Marissa Goodman works with public and private-sector clients on projects affected by contamination, with a focus on construction projects and property transaction support. Her experience spans soil, groundwater, soil vapor, and indoor air contamination by substances including petroleum, metals, chlorinated solvents, and PFAS. Marissa’s public-sector experience includes a substantial amount of collaboration with the Department of Ecology, for which she has characterized petroleum-contaminated sites and managed soil remediation near the former site of a smelter, among other projects.
The positive impacts of her work are a powerful motivator, but solving complex problems is what Marissa, an avid puzzler, loves most about it. When approaching a challenge, she tries to fully inhabit the client’s perspective and to balance their immediate goals with long-term value, while giving meticulous care to budgets, scopes, and schedules. When all the parts of a solution fall into place, it thrills Marissa even more than solving a tough puzzle.
“I love my work for the same reasons I love solving puzzles. When a client has a complex challenge, putting together all the parts of an efficient solution excites and satisfies me.”
