Long has deep experience in numerical modeling. He often starts projects by working with clients to understand their needs, then tailoring the technical scope to meet those needs within schedule and budget considerations. In other words, he offers practical guidance rooted in both technical and real-world considerations. He applies this perspective to solve challenges for clients and evaluate models with a careful eye to both their usefulness and limitations.
Long’s experience spans advanced constitutive models, including SaniSand, PM4Sand, and PM4Silt. His experience also spans academic research; in addition to working on several complex waterfront projects, he has conducted research into the implementation and application of constitutive models for site response and lateral spreading analysis considering liquefaction. Long has authored or coauthored numerous technical papers based on his research.
“Curiosity drives me. I have enjoyed watching things get built since childhood, and I remain motivated to keep learning and improving with every project.”
