Haley & Aldrich awards scholarship to Washington State University civil engineering student

Lijun Wright

Burlington, Mass., Sept. 20, 2022 – Haley & Aldrich has awarded a scholarship to Lijun Wright, an undergraduate civil engineering student at Washington State University.

Wright is the first student to receive the Haley & Aldrich Scholarship, which will be granted annually through the Puget Sound Engineering & Science Scholarship Fund to a student of color majoring in civil or environmental engineering at either Seattle University or Washington State University.

Wright, a Chinese American student from the state of Washington, received the award after a competitive selection process. In addition to impressive academic achievements and extracurricular involvement, she won first place at the 2021 Air & Waste Management Association Environmental Challenge for a team project focused on addressing impacts of climate change in a hypothetical small town.

After graduation, Wright aims to apply the patterns and systems of the natural world to engineered infrastructure to improve the delivery of electricity and clean water in cities.

“We’re proud to support such a promising scholar,” said Haley & Aldrich Senior Vice President David Winter, General Manager of the Hart Crowser Business Unit based in Seattle. “Young engineers like Lijun bring passion and a fresh perspective to solving the engineering challenges that we’re facing, both regionally and globally.”
