Science instead of speculation – examining coal ash and health concerns

Last month, Lisa Bradley, Ph.D., DABT, Principal Consultant at Haley & Aldrich, published a blog post on Duke Energy’s website examining coal ash and health concerns. In this article, Lisa divers deeper into the research and science of coal ash and explores:

  • Existing research examining the effects of coal ash on human health

  • Radioactive iodine vs. radium and their respective links to health concerns

  • Toxicity levels of coal ash and exposure

  • Comments on recent claims about coal ash impacts

Lisa received her Ph.D. in toxicology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, has 25 years of experience in risk assessment and toxicology, and is certified by the American Board of Toxicology. For the past decade, she has focused much of her time on helping the public better understand coal ash.
