Four Haley & Aldrich contaminated site management experts participate in PFAS, remediation sessions at GRA Western Groundwater Congress

Burlington, Mass., Sep. 9, 2021 – Haley & Aldrich announced today that four of its contaminated site management experts will play key roles at the GRA Western Groundwater Congress. Haley & Aldrich staff will moderate four sessions and present two platform sessions at the Congress, which will take place from September 13 to 15 in Burbank, California. The firm will also be the Congress’ “Recharge Sponsor,” which supports the awards luncheon and annual meeting.

On September 13, from 10:00 to 11:55 a.m., Murray Einarson, Service Leader for Contaminated Site Management, will moderate the PFAS Part I session, which will feature four presentations. Topics will include an evaluation of PFAS analytical methods and data validation.

At the same time, Technical Expert John Xiong will moderate the “Emerging technologies and methods I” session as part of “Track Four: Unique challenges and new opportunities.” This session’s four presentations will be focused on the “development and application of innovative analytical methods including machine learning for water resource management.” Einarson and Xiong serve as Directors on the Board of GRA.

On September 14, from 8:00 to 9:55 a.m., Environmental Engineer Sarah Mass will moderate the “PFAS Part II” session, which will provide an update on progress that the State Water Resources Control Board is making toward quantifying and mitigating the impacts of PFAS on California’s groundwater resources. Xiong will be presenting “An innovative approach for cost-effective and sustainable destruction of PFAS” as one of the three talks during this session.

On the final day of the Congress, September 15, Principal Consultant Elie Haddad will both present and moderate. His presentation, “Small-scale footprint regenerable resin systems for vapor and groundwater treatment in California,” will take place between 8:00 and 9:55 a.m. as one of four presentations in the “In-situ/ex-situ carbon based technologies” session. Then, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:25 p.m., Haddad will moderate the “Contaminant assessment and remediation” session, which will include presentations on various remediation case studies.
