Haley & Aldrich increases flood channel capacity with durable, cost-effective infrastructure

Summary

  • Alameda County needed to upgrade the Laguna Creek flood channel to meet FEMA 100-year flood control criteria.
  • As the county’s on-call advisor, we completed a geotechnical study, then managed the civil and structural design.
  • We incorporated concrete floodwalls with a smaller footprint than existing levees, increasing channel capacity and providing durable, cost-effective maintenance access.
